The Legacy We Ride Together
There is something quietly powerful about capturing a mother and daughter standing with their horse.
There is something very special about seeing a mother and daughter with the same horse, especially when it has been part of their family for years. Whether she's your mother, your grandmother, your auntie, or simply the woman who showed up when you needed her most. Those relationships deserve to be drawn into focus.
What may begin as riding lessons or pony days often grows into shared mornings at the yard, quiet encouragement and familiar routines woven into everyday life.
It’s in those ordinary moments that a bond deepens. I remember that from my own childhood, not necessarily horse related, but simply the time and experiences shared with my mum. I wish I’d had photographs during that time to capture it.
It isn’t always obvious while you’re growing up. Often it’s only later in early adulthood that you realise how much those small, steady moments shaped you. I’ve been reminded of this in recent years, reflecting on a close friend who was beautiful inside and out, who supported me and believed in my journey more than I did at times.
That kind of shared bond is something truly special. It deserves to be preserved and displayed within your home as a reminder of the years you’ve grown through together.
There was no rush and no pressure, just time spent together in a place that already meant something to them. The yard, the fields and the familiar routines all felt like part of the story rather than just a backdrop.
There was laughter, quiet conversation and moments of stillness that didn’t need directing. Those are often the most meaningful parts of a session, the in-between moments that reflect real life. I could simply let them be together and quietly capture what was already there.
“Because one day, these photographs will not just show how things looked.
They will remind them how it felt.”
Moments like these are exactly why I believe in heirloom artwork.
When images are printed and displayed within the home, they become part of daily life rather than something stored away. They sit quietly on a wall or within an album, reminding you of the years spent growing alongside one another.
On family land, with a shared history and a shared love of horses, those photographs hold even more meaning. They become part of the story that continues beyond the present moment.
Having that bond preserved in a tangible way ensures it isn’t forgotten or overlooked as life moves forward.
More than anything, it’s about preserving time together.
That’s why I place such importance on creating heirloom artwork. When portraits are printed and displayed within your home, they become part of daily life rather than something stored away. They quietly hold the memories of who you were in that moment, and the bond you were building.
Is there a woman in your life who deserves to be seen? Not just celebrated with flowers that will fade, but properly, beautifully preserved in something that will still be hanging on your wall in thirty years?
Because that's what heirloom portraits are, at their heart. Not just photographs. They are proof that this season happened. That you were here, together, in it.
Private commissions are available throughout the countryside. I'd love to hear your story.
